I am delighted to share that together with Dr. Ina Weisshardt I am co-authoring a forthcoming book titled What Patients Don’t Say and Physicians Don’t Ask, to be published by Springer Nature in 2026.
- The book explores the hidden dynamics of patient–physician communication — the unspoken moments, unanswered questions, and lived experiences that deeply shape trust, treatment, and health outcomes.
- Drawing on insights from a needs assessment project on Myasthenia Gravis the book aims to equip patients, caregivers, physicians, and medical trainees with tools to foster more empathetic, transparent, and trust-driven interactions in healthcare.
We look forward to amplifying these voices and shaping a more compassionate and effective healthcare dialogue.
Our new article, published in Neurology and Therapy, explores how subtle gaps in communication between patients with myasthenia gravis (MG) and healthcare professionals can affect care and outcomes.
Drawing on both patient and clinician perspectives, the study highlights:
• How differences in understanding the daily impact of symptoms can shape dialogue
• The importance of listening, empathy, and trust in clinical relationships
• Why mental health and emotional wellbeing need more space in care conversations
• How improving communication can strengthen shared decision-making
